When I was a child, I had this old book from Alexandre Dumas, The Three Musketeers, it was old, and smelly, I never read it but oh god I was so in love with that book! Then I drew in it. I was fascinated by this little girl in Inspector Gadget who got a computer hiding in a simple book. So I drew my secret computer in that book too. Many hours of game, I’m telling you. I guess this is not surprising if a few years later (yes, just a few) I keep doing that.

I just feel this is boring to draw on a piece paper just dedicated to that when all around you have one million of different amazing support. Like the walls. Who the hell said that it was forbidden to draw on your walls? when you’re a kid, your parents got mad if you dare draw on the wall. Seriously?? Nobody’s dead right? You just want to express yourself and think that instead of killing trees you’d rather draw on walls (yes, even really young you can think like this already). For sure, my kids will be allowed to draw whatever they want, wherever they want, on MY walls… And I might have to teach them that it’s not like this at their friend’s place…

But, back to my old books! I love the pages yellowed by the passing time, then I thought I should do more than just drawing on it… And came the idea of paper boat. Peaceful activity… Nina Simone’s singing and I’m folding piece of precious paper into little boats. How cosy!

Thus, quickly, I’ve been surrounded by one thousand boats.

So I started to put them all over my place, as decoration. But I still had 950 left… What should I do with those… What?? You destroy old books, and you don’t know what to do with?? Calm down…I don’t destroy, I give a second life! And because I might have something with things hanging, I made mobiles with…

I’ve been complaining many times about all troubles it was to host silly critters at my place, the noise, the mess, critters popping up everywhere, so you could think that now I’m ok… But no, I’m not, at all. I feel like I’ve been living in an old library and that someone put a bomb in it. That’s the way my place is looking right now. Old books everywhere, pieces of precious paper, driftwood, pastel oil, old frames… My atelier (understand my desk) was dedicated in one place in my apartment, but then, things moved (by themselves) on the kitchen table, and now in the living-room, soon I’m expecting to see tools and paper boats in the bathroom… And she complains, again and again! Well, yes, she is french…;-)

I agree, that was maybe not a reason to tell her not to come, and I should have probably been a bit less rude with her, but, the thing is, that was not on purpose, the day I told her, I was extremely sick and tired about all those critters in my apartment (believe me it’s not funny everyday!). But to understand that, I should tell you how look a typical day in my life…

First, I woke up, and my first thought is for a cup of coffee. Very important rule, drink my coffee as soon as possible or I fall asleep again… But, on my way to the coffee machine… watch out! Because somebody is asking for food, and can be quiet persuasive: my big fatty and lazy cat! I still don’t understand why every single morning he keeps walking between my foot, and I have to go and feed him like this. It’s not necessary to tell you that of course, that takes more time for me to be careful not to walk on the cat and that of course this big hairball is insanely hungry AND angry! For sure, I could go and take my cup of coffee first, but that means that I’ll have to be focus on my way to the coffee machine AND on my way to feed the cat, and just the fact to use the word “focus” when I talk about my morning, I’m frightened!

So when, this is done, I can go to the coffee machine. You’re going to think, easy for me, just have to put an empty cup, the coffee powder and turn on the machine,  and you will be wrong. I have to check the water tank, not to see if there is water left, no no no, to see if there are fishes in the water tank. Just because I don’t have bath, when the Fairy Mariette comes with fishes she puts them in the water tank of my coffee machine! I’m telling you, one day I’m going to drink warm fishes juice! Yummy…

Then, I can go and take my shower in the bathroom where surprisingly, until now, nothing special happens… This is the next step which is a bit complicated…

I need to put clothes on, and to reach the cabinet I need to pass by the living-room. Some of you already know that I have goose and pink flamingos in my living-room, but did I tell you that they follow me everywhere? I don’t know if you’ve ever experienced that but, when a baby geese opens his eyes for the first time, the first face he sees is the face of his mother… And he is going to follow her everywhere in Indian file in order not to be lost… And I am the first face they use to see, so I am the one they run after everyday! So, if you follow me, (in my story, not in my living-room), now I fed the cat, I took my coffee, my shower, but I’m almost naked in the living-room, followed by an army of chicks!

And once again, the next step is not an easy one! When I finally reached the cabinet, I have to remove from my clothes…Hermit crabs! Yes, because those crazy stuff camp in my clothes, and I’m telling you when you have Hermit crabs in your shirt, your pants or your socks, this is more efficient to wake up than coffee! I’m sick and tired to be pinched every single morning!

Then I can go to work, where I could have some peace but of course not, I’m running all day to accomplish as much as I can, all my work. And then, I come back home, and Oooh surprised all those crazy animals I left the whole day alone, have been partying like hell! And then the Fairy Mariette comes and complains about her boring day, and this is at this moment that she puts fairy dust everywhere, and this is the straw that broke the camel… I can’t take more, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAh!!! Leave me alone!

So, Fairy Mariette, if you read those words, don’t be mad at me, I apologize, that was just a bad day…

I put some pictures of the critters I find in my place… And I put some new Hermit Crab mobiles in the shop, the more I put in the shop, the less I have in my cabinet! Ha!

So, what’s up if I was not striking!? I’ve been visited by the Fairy Mariette, and as each time she visited me, I found new critters in my apartment, like squids and octopuses in my sink, goose and flamingo in my magic tree, stingrays in the washing machine and hermit crabs almost everywhere. That’s not a life that!!!! Can you imagine that each morning, when I go in the kitchen to take my breakfast, or in the bathroom to take my shower, I have to be careful where I put my foot, because I can walk on those crazy critters?! How can I be focus when I woke up?! I’m not! I’m like you, eyes in the fog, brain on the pillow, and mind in my dreams… For sure when you hear those tiny hermit crabs screaming, you wake up… But, I digress, again… the reason why the Fairy Mariette visited me, was because she wanted from me to make new mobiles for “little french person”. (I said “little person” instead of “children” because I noticed that many men around my young age, talk about “little person” and are scared to pronounce “kids, or child, or children” Oh my god a child!!!!! That’s scary!! So, if by chance, a young man read this post, I don’t want to frighten him…). Anyway, I made several mobiles for those “little french person” and I’m glad to say to their parents that they could find them in the shop of Le Crapaud Poilu, in Caen for the Festival des Boréales! What’s that? Each year, and for nineteenth time now, it’s celebrated the Scandinavian art and culture, (such a good idea!) you’ll find more informations (in french sorry) on youtube and on facebook. So for this occasion, Marion Chopin who has this wonderful shop of art and handmade for “little person” is going to host some of my mobiles!

Oh, let me guess, you want to see the critters which are going to be down there… That’s it!

But, that was not the only reason of the visit of the fairy Mariette! She likes to bring me good news from France and also when it’s about birth… So I’m glad to say that two lovely “little person” arrived in my family a couple of weeks ago, Gabriel and Capucine! And I’ve for you two, two special mobiles, full of tenderness, I’ve selected the funniest and the craziest critters, but, no worries they are also very good to protect your afternoon naps and your nights, you could sleep tight…

And, at last, I’ll talk to you the next time about a discover I’ve done a couple of month ago, my crazy critters have new friends, but I’ll introduce them at the end of the month, you need some pumpkins around you, and I won’t say more for today!
